Acme Cheers to 10 Years
Acme Cups Celebrates 10 years of making cups and handles that fit fingers.
Acme Cups came about as Jeff had been importing cups for years, but he always felt that there were things he could do better/different. Selling Caffe L'affare was their golden opportunity to get stuck into the cup business idea.
The design objectives were; handles that fit fingers, cups and saucers that are available separately and colours. In 2012 the first order was placed and they became available in 2013. The cups very quickly becoming the must have product for cafes both in New Zealand and overseas. 10 years later, our Espresso range is still our most sort after product, you really can't beat a classic.
We thought a little trip down instagram memory lane might be a good place to start. Here's a selection of photos from our first year in the cup business. Nothing shows the age of something like a heavily filtered Instagram post… and goodness we loved a photo filter back in 2013/14!
- Cups used at the New Zealand Barista Championships, Nick Clark then used them at the World Barista Champs. Caravan in the UK, was our first international distributor. Five Elephant, along with the Barn and Bonanza in Berlin were our first Europe Customers. Prefab, the Acme flagship cafe was built - see the before and after photo! And can you spot Paddy, one of the Acme Cups directors on the coffee machine in Prefab after it opened?!
